This is a simple yet one of the biggest controversy of dungeon setup.
What disinfectant we need to have in dungeon. What’s the best way to treat wounds especially post impact scenes.
For me, personally I would rather let people decide on their own what is best for them. People have take things that are not good for them anyway and yet they are doing it (eg: drinking alcohol, smoking, etc).
But, I will share on what I have learned. If you don’t like this, and go ahead and keep using what you like 🙂
Alcohol
As far as I can remember, alcohol has been always the default solution in every dungeon. They are easy to acquire, not messy, and practicable. Their price is relatively in range. At the time of this writing, alcohol would cost you $0.20/ fl oz on Amazon if purchased on bulk.
The problem with Alcohol though is more for wound cleaning. They’re “OUCH!”. They would quickly dried up the wound and caused scar. For many in pain fetish, well,,, we shouldn’t mind that right? 🙂
The top would love that their ‘art’ stay long within their bottom and the pain is an additional sadistic finale. However, check with your bottom if this is consensual 😀
The ideal solution of alcohol is 80% diluted in water. It’s best to allow the alcohol to soak on the surface for up to 3 minutes before wiping it off, or until it evaporates. Alcohol is not good for leather products as it dries up the leather and causes them to crack.
Alcohol is a fire hazard so store it properly.
Cavicide
Cavicide, for me, is something that I would call the “Kill all” solution. It is of a similar strength to bleach without causing problems to your clothing. It is a more effective disinfectant in comparison to alcohol since it kills bacteria and viruses faster than alcohol.
The problem with Cavicide though, it’s not good for humans. They can permeate through the skin and end up being poisonous and carcinogenic. I know it might sound like CA Prop 65 bull crap, but there are sizeable audiences that are concerned about it.
At the time of this writing, Cavicide would cost $0.30/fl oz on Amazon.
I think the only applicable thing for Cavicide is just for surface cleaning. I would rather go to Alcohol for wound treatment. But at $0.30/fl oz, I wonder if this is overkill and if we should just use household surface cleaner (like Simple Green)?
Hibiclens (chlorhexidine)
Hibiclens have been around in general for pre-surgery solutions. It’s a pink soap that is supposed to prevent infection. At $0.79/ fl oz on Amazon, it is expensive. But perhaps this is the best one if we don’t want either Alcohol and Cavicide and in needs of immediate disinfecant instead of just leaving wounds as is or with just regular soap and water.
If we are expecting scene where deep wound may be expected (eg: knife play), it would be great idea to use Hibiclens in advance.
Of course proper first aid protocol needs to be administered with deep wounds instead of using this.
Simple Green/
Regular household cleaners
As I mentioned above, it would be a cheaper solution compared to Cavicide with similar effectiveness.
Hydrogen Peroxide
OUCH! Messy! Just no?
Bleach
YIKES! No. It’s poisonous and messy.
