This is going to be a topic that I usually don’t cover.
While in general we don’t shame other kinks. There are few kinks that needs to be marked as things we shouldn’t do or do it with extreme caution due to safety reasons and controversial. I will explain this from my personal experience as a dungeon monitor trainer but others may have more loose views:
Breath Play.
Breath play covers blood choke, a choke where the carotid arteries are being blocked; and air choke, a choke where one is prevented to access oxygen. Both of this chokes can be lethal and has been the main cause of death among BDSM practitioners.
NEVER DO BREATH PLAY ON YOUR OWN!
EXTREME CAUTION ON BREATH PLAY WITH OTHERS, there are those that have experience and advanced in breath play, but even the most expert one can a fail.
Wait, but many scenes involve breath play, and they’re hot! Typical light breath play that involves things like covering with gloves are okay. In general, if you’re performing active breath play in which the top have to pay close attention to what they’re doing, they’re ok. Things gets dangerous when it’s a passive breath play when the bottom is still a subject of breath play even the top is not actively involved.
Blood choke (choke hold):
Blood choke is effect is very quick, the moment brain is deprived from blood, it goes down quickly.
When brain is deprived from fresh blood within 30 seconds,,, brain death process starts.
Why there’s a movement to ban cops from doing blood choke? This. Blood choke is very unpredictable as everyone are different.
Air choke:
Air choke covers trachea strangulations, bagging, etc.
Air choke effect takes longer as it depends on the oxygen level in the blood in whole body circulation.
However, this can actually be dangerous too. You might see your bottom still moving around and struggling and gasping. But the oxygen level in the blood might already too low that the brain is already starting the brain death process. You might pull fast enough to keep your bottom alive but it irreversible damage to the brain might already happened. You might give the bottom that split seconds of gasping for air before covering again, but at that point blood/ oxygen level is already low and it does takes a while to go back to normal. So, please keep it light.
